Barquillos De Polvoron

Ingredients
  • 1 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 cups powdered milk
  • 1/2 cup refined sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • ¼ cup ground Oreo
  • Banana leaves
  • Cooking Oil
Instructions
POLVORON
  1. Toast all purpose flour on a pan over moderate heat.
  2. Stirring constantly for about 15 minutes or until light brown.
  3. Transfer the flour onto a dry mixing bowl and let it cool.
  4. Add powdered milk, sugar, Oreo powder and cream, whisk until well combined.
  5. Melt butter in a skillet or wok, turn off the heat and mix the flour mixture.
MOULD
  1. Lay a piece of around 12' x 6" banana leaves on a flat workplace.
  2. Fold the edge and roll them towards the end to make a log.
  3. Roll with the palm of hands to tighten,Tie a twine in the middle to secure.
  4. Cut an inch longer from the size of the wrapper.
  5. Place rolled banana leaves at the edge of the wrapper.
  6. Roll around until the edges overlap, leaving a space to seal the wrapper.
  7. Heat oil in a pan but not smoking, turn the heat in medium high and put the wrapper.
  8. Deep fry in medium heat until golden brown, then drain excess oil on paper towels.
ASSEMBLY
  1. Fill the hollow of the wrapper with the polvoron mixture.
  2. Compact using funnel and stick, making firm up through the other end.
Notes
  • Heat oil until but not smoking, then lower to medium high before frying the wrapper.
  • Wrapper can be fried with sugar caramel to coat the outside
